Dr. Hausfeld stepped down from his clinical duties after receiving a Masters in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University with an aim to dive into a career of entrepreneurship.
As an entrepreneur, Dr. Hausfeld co-founded the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SoPE) with the intention of assembling all of the knowledge he believed to be necessary for healthcare innovation, and distributing it at scale to healthcare professionals who had limited hands-on knowledge for developing new healthcare products and profitable businesses that impact millions of patients in need.
Thousands of healthcare professionals have attended in-person SoPE events where the knowledge from experienced and professional healthcare entrepreneurs is passed to them, as well as opportunities to establish influential contacts for support at all stages of commercialization. With a rapidly growing LinkedIn group of over 27,000 health professionals and entrepreneurs, discussions in the Society of Physician LinkedIn group facilitate creativity and innovation within the healthcare landscape. Dr. Hausfeld’s contributions through the National Capital Chapter of SoPE have been nothing short of newsworthy. At the end of 2017, he was asked to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the launch of the Inova Personalized Health Accelerator in Fairfax, Virginia due to how impactful he has been with regard to stimulating life sciences innovation in the National Capital Region.
He has been syndicating and raising capital for healthcare related real estate ventures, including other life science entrepreneurial enterprises, both regionally and nationally. In his position as the Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of BioFactura, a biosimilars development company, Dr. Hausfeld orchestrated the oversubscribed Series A round for the company and continues to venture forward as a prominent figure for innovation in the life sciences sector.
